Age of Invention
The Age of Invention, presented in October 2020, was born from the kind of necessity and creative ingenuity that challenges presumptions about what’s possible when pivoting to online events during a global pandemic. The historically in-person gala was presented virtually, but the creative team leveraged this change to showcase Chicago’s amazing talent and highlight the unique role the Museum plays in stimulating and nurturing inventive genius.
Identity Development
The Age of Invention allowed for a lighthearted approach to an event newly billed as “creative black tie.” The design strategy evolved to reflect the updated brief. The typography remained sophisticated, but also spunky. Hand-drawn pattern elements and confetti shapes added a bit of whimsy. And, the bright, inviting color scheme provided an unexpected pop of color.
Deliverables covered a wide range of needs and included a variety of formats, including both print and digital elements. Digital presentations, emails, web graphics, lower thirds for video, digital background screens for filming, food packaging, recipe cards, a program book, swag bag items (stickers, coasters, confetti!), and guest photo props were all part of the final package of assets that brought the black-tie experience directly into guests’ homes.
